Summer Thoughts.
Southern Utah is too hot for me. I'm a girl who likes a bit of a chill in the air. Fall is hands down my favorite season- after all, it does have the best clothes. Men wear trousers and a nice sweater. Women prance about in heeled boots and wool skirts. Lightweight scarves and gloves come out. Well, I am on a college campus, so it's mostly just pajamas, hoodies, and knockoff Uggs, but a lady can dream, no?

Yesterday, however, I had a pleasant escape from the heat of Cedar City, in the form of a USF Company trip up to Brian Head resort. Brian Head, which is a ski resort in the winter, is full of mountain biking and hiking in the summer. My plan was to take the ski lift to the top of the mountain, hike until I found a suitable spot, listen to John Coltrane and read The Counte of Monte Cristo until it was time to go home. And that's exactly what I did. A few things I learned from the day:

  • Riding down a ski lift is a lot more harrowing an experience than riding up.
  • Hiking at 11,000 feet is much more difficult and tiring than hiking at 6,000 feet.
  • 11,000 feet is cold, even in the middle of summer. If you are clever enough to bring a quilt, everyone wants to be your friend.
  • Even the big-name actors at USF are friendly and nice.

So with that pleasant memory in my mind, and the thunderstorms today, I've had cooler weather on my mind. Consequently I was very amused when I found the following picture today:

This cute photo was taken this past winter. What I love is the small, yet threatening snowball that has just left my hand. If there were a picture from a second and a half later it would show Logan scowling, with snow running down the back of his hoodie, and me laughing even harder.

And I also love how fine I look with bangs.
