So, one of the quilt shops in Salt Lake, Quilt Etc., has a great block of the month club. You sign up for the year, and once a month you show up and you get a little kit of fabric, and instructions on how to put it together, and then you have show and tell, and it's just tons of fun. So, now that I'm back in SLC, I'm back at Quilts, Etc.
The theme this year is quilting around the world, so each of the monthly blocks takes it's influence from a specific country. Like this first month was Ireland, and we did an Irish Chain block. They always have a few different color schemes to choose from- this year it's colors of the world, country christmas, and black and white. Now, since we were doing blocks from around the world, naturally I wanted to do the colors from around the world. But when I got there and looked at the patterns and fabrics, I'll be darned if the black and white didn't look pretty stylish. So, after much debate, I decided to do both!
So, here are the September blocks. The country is Ireland, and the pattern is an Irish Chain:
Here are the photographs of October's blocks, a Scottish cross. If you look closely at the colored block, you'll notice a tartan print:
In November our pattern was an English Wedding Ring block. If you look closely at the red fabric you'll notice it's not colored polka-dots, but actually little teapots!
In December we went to Spain. The pattern is called Castles in Spain, and the fabric is a tribute to bullfighting... the center of the block is a fussy-cut bull:
